In this second part of our series on the biggest mistakes in the history of science, we will look at some famous instances of human imperfections combined with the reality that sometimes we just didn’t know what the technology we created would do or where our ideas would lead.

Although we call them errors, these examples also illustrate science’s inherent fallibility, which is also one of its greatest strengths. For all that it has brought to our lives, science has its share of failures, which is, after all, a part of the scientific process itself.
